Haeng was born in Werlyt as Xidah Yamaare. During the Garlean occupation, her family was forced out of their home, leaving Haeng behind in hopes that she could avoid a life under Garlean rule. Haeng was adopted by a Seeker family, who named her T'haeng Laye. Early in her adventuring journey, Haeng was reunited with her older sister, Seli'a, who accompanied her on her journeys as the warrior of light.

Hot Chip was born Aulane Marinterre to a minor Ishgardian noble house. At 18 she ran away from an arranged marriage, nearly freezing to death in the Coerthan wilds, but was saved by a young Xaela adventurer named Cold Noodle. When Cold Noodle became the Warrior of Light, Hot Chip joined them as a companion and lover.

L'tehni "Euryka" Cirha was born and raised in Sharlayan to L'cirha Nunh and L'dhena Rhul, both sages. After their primary education, Euryka attended the studium for a short while, but elected to abandon their studies and become an adventurer. They spent much time on the ruined Isle of Val, preparing the terrain and camps for future adventurers, before making their way to Eorzea. It was there that they met their closest friend, Fehlux, who would accompany them on their travels across and beyond the star.

Taran's older sister, Sechen, was one of the original Warriors of Light who fought in the Battle of Cartenau. In the wake of the amnesia that resulted from the Seventh Umbral Calamity, Taran journeyed from the Azim Steppe to Eorzea in search of their forgotten sister. They studied closely with the Students of Baldesion, and as the Warrior of Light they strive to record the forgotten histories of their sister and the original Warriors of Light.
